August Quilt Project: Let There Be Light

This month’s quilt pattern inside the Pattern Club is called Let There Be Light. It’s built from curved blocks that create a soft sunrise effect across the quilt.

Each block uses the same gentle curve, so once you get the hang of it, the rest comes together in a steady rhythm. This is the kind of project you can work on little by little. You might sew one block a day, or cut everything at once and sew in rows.

The quilt is calm, beginner-friendly, and a great way to get more comfortable sewing curves.

A Quilt to Support Daily Routines

Let There Be Light was designed to reflect the feeling of slow mornings, quiet evenings, and everyday rhythm.

To go along with the quilt, Pattern Club members get a printable set of bedtime reflection cards. These are simple prompts you can read with your child at night. They’re short and easy to use, with questions like:

  • What made you smile today?
  • What is something you want to let go of?
  • What are you looking forward to tomorrow?

The quilt gives you a calm project to sew. The cards offer a calm way to end the day.

Learn to Sew Curves with Confidence

If you’ve never sewn curves before, this is a good pattern to start with. All the blocks use the same curve, so it’s easy to practice and improve as you go.

Here are a few helpful tips:

  • Use 3 to 4 pins or clips to hold the curve in place
  • Sew slowly and gently guide the fabric
  • Keep your needle down so you can adjust as you go
  • Press with steam to help everything lay flat

Once you finish the first row, the rest feels much easier.
