Autumn Nights Mystery Quilt Along – Week 2
Let’s Sew the Falling Leaf Blocks
It’s Week 2 of the Autumn Nights Mystery Quilt Along, and today we’re stitching the Falling Leaf Blocks. These playful leaves are made with simple patchwork and triangle units that create motion and texture in the quilt layout.
Each block uses a mix of warm prints and background fabric to form the shape of a falling leaf. With three blocks to sew this week, you’ll see the quilt begin to take on that cozy, seasonal charm.
Tips for Success
- Use a consistent seam allowance. Quarter inch seams will help your units match up neatly during assembly.
- Trim your half square triangles. Accurate trimming makes a big difference when you’re piecing diagonal elements like leaf points.
- Watch unit orientation. Double check your diagrams before joining the stem and leaf sections to keep everything facing the right direction.
Each finished block should measure 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" (unfinished). You’ll make three total, one from each print.
