Continue the Nutcracker Story

This month, the Nutcracker story continues with one of its most memorable characters, the Mouse King.

With his embroidered details, royal crown, boots, and long braided tail, the Mouse King is full of personality and such a fun character to bring to life. He's the fourth doll in our five-part Nutcracker Doll Collection, joining Clara, the Nutcracker, and Uncle Drosselmeyer as the story continues to grow.

Whether you choose the Sewing & Hand Embroidery version or the Machine Embroidery version, we can't wait to see your Mouse King come to life.

A Technique to Practice: Appliqué and Embroidery Details

The Mouse King is a wonderful project for practicing the little details that give a handmade doll so much personality.

The Sewing & Hand Embroidery version combines fusible raw edge appliqué and hand embroidery, while the Machine Embroidery version brings many of those details to life right in the hoop. From his expressive face and jacket details to his crown and boots, there are lots of opportunities to slow down and enjoy the creative process.

About the Mouse King

The Mouse King is designed using fabrics from Jennifer Long's Nutcracker Tradition collection, giving him a festive look that coordinates beautifully with the rest of the Nutcracker dolls.

You can also give your Mouse King an extra royal finishing touch with the optional Mouse King Cape, available separately as an add-on.
