Seahorse School Quilt-Along β Week 4
Assemble the Quilt Top
Welcome to Week 4. This is the week when all the pieces you have been creating begin to come together. The Seahorse, Bubble, and Fish Blocks each play a role in the final composition, and now you will see how they interact across the quilt top.
Take your time during this stage. Proper layout and thoughtful pressing make a big difference in the final look of your quilt.
This Week’s Focus
- Lay out all completed blocks
- Arrange the blocks according to the pattern layout
- Sew blocks into rows, then join the rows into the full quilt top
- Press carefully after each step to reduce bulk and help with alignment
Use a flat surface or design wall to preview your layout before sewing. If you are adjusting fabrics or placement, take a photo to reference as you begin assembly.
Tips for Success
- Use pins at intersections to help your seams nest cleanly
- Stay organized by assembling one row at a time
- Step back and look at your quilt from a distance before finalizing layout
- Check the direction of your prints as you sew the rows together
Now is also a good time to consider whether you will add any embellishments before quilting. If you are using sparkle paste or hand-stitched accents, plan to complete those before layering with batting.
Looking Ahead
Next week we will add prairie points and borders. These details help frame the quilt and add a beautiful finish to the edges. You may want to begin selecting fabric for your points now if you have not already done so.
Share Your Progress
Seeing your quilt top take shape is a milestone. Whether you have finished assembly or are still pinning rows, we would love to see your work. Share a photo and tag your post.
