Soft Book Panel Sew-Along – Week 3
Construct the Book & Bring It to Life
This week, we’ll begin building the soft book. Once your pages are embellished and backed with fleece, it’s time to start sewing the pages together and creating the full structure of the book.
There’s something special about seeing the pages stack, turn, and take shape. Keep your iron nearby, take it slow, and enjoy how it all starts to come together.
This Week’s Tip: Use a Turning Tool
After sewing your pages and turning them right side out, a turning tool (or hemostat) helps smooth out the edges without stretching the fabric. Gently push into the corners, then press each page flat before topstitching.
A clean press makes a big difference in the finished look and helps keep the pages aligned.
What to Do This Week
- Sew each spread (two pages) with right sides together
- Turn and press each unit
- Topstitch around the edge for structure and durability
- Prepare spine pieces and group pages into order
