Soft Book Panel Sew-Along – Week 4
Finishing Touches and Storybook Magic
Welcome to the final week of the Soft Book Panel SAL. This is where it all comes together. You’ll sew the spine, add any closures or pockets, and give the book its final press. Once you finish this step, you’ll have a handmade soft book that is ready to be enjoyed, shared, or gifted.
Whether you’ve added sparkle, embroidery, or kept the panel just as printed, your project holds a story sewn with care.
This Week’s Tip: Take Time to Press
Before attaching the spine or finishing details, give each spread a final press with steam. This helps all the pages sit evenly and makes the book easier to assemble. A crisp press can help align seams and remove any shifting from earlier steps.
If you're using Velcro or snaps as a closure, test the placement before sewing so the flap folds cleanly over the front page.
What to Do This Week
- Sew the spine piece and attach it to the page stack
- Add optional closure flap with Velcro or snaps
- Attach front and back covers
- Give the full book one last press
