The Beginning of a New Holiday Doll Collection

There is something special about creating a doll that becomes part of a larger story.

This month, we are introducing Clara, the first doll in our Nutcracker Doll Series. Inspired by the beloved holiday classic, Clara begins a collection of five dolls that will be released over the coming months, allowing makers to build a beautiful heirloom set one doll at a time.

With her delicate dress, ballet-inspired shoes, and timeless styling, Clara is a doll that feels both classic and meaningful. Whether displayed as part of a seasonal collection or gifted to someone special, she is a project that will be treasured for years to come.

A Technique to Practice: Doll Clothing Construction

One of the most enjoyable parts of creating Clara is bringing her outfit to life.

As you work through the pattern, you will practice gathering, shaping, and finishing doll clothing details that add personality and charm to the finished project. Taking your time with these details helps create a polished doll while building confidence in your sewing skills.

Projects like Clara are a wonderful way to practice techniques while creating something that can be enjoyed long after the sewing is complete.

About Clara

Clara features a flowing skirt, detailed sleeves, embroidered facial features, and soft storybook-inspired styling.

The doll is available in both a Sewing & Hand Embroidery version and a Machine Embroidery version, allowing makers to choose the construction method that best fits their sewing style. The Machine Embroidery version is available in 14", 16", and 18" sizes and is designed for 5x7, 6x10, and 8x12 hoops.

Shown using fabrics from the A Nutcracker Tradition fabric collection by Jennifer Long of Sew A Story, Clara captures the warmth and charm of the holiday season while still feeling timeless enough to enjoy year-round.

Simple Ways to Make Clara Your Own

One of the best things about doll making is the opportunity to personalize each project.

You might choose different fabrics, experiment with hair and skin tones, add embellishments, or create accessories that reflect your own style. Small changes can make each doll feel completely unique while still keeping the spirit of the original design.

Every Clara tells her own story.
