The Nutcracker Book Blog Tour Begins!

I can hardly believe I get to write these words. My very first book, The Nutcracker, is here, and we are celebrating with a very special Nutcracker Book Blog Tour!

This book has been such a meaningful project for me. The Nutcracker story has been part of my creative world for as long as I can remember, beginning with my years in ballet and the beautiful costumes, fabrics, and details that helped bring the story to life on stage.

Years later, that love of storytelling through fabric became part of Sew A Story, and now it has found its way into the pages of this book.

Inside The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker was created to help you sew your way through this beloved story and make pieces that can become part of your own family traditions.

Inside the book, you will find quilts, character dolls, appliqué projects, stockings, pillows, a tree skirt, and plenty of opportunities to add your own creative touches.

The projects include:

  • Nutcracker Collection Quilt
  • Waltz of the Snowflakes Quilt
  • Holiday Surprise Quilt
  • Nutcracker Dolls
  • Story Character Appliqués
  • Story Appliqué Stockings
  • Story Appliqué Pillows
  • Story Appliqué Tree Skirt

You will also find my retelling of The Nutcracker story, along with sewing techniques, templates, and my Modern Rag Doll Masterclass.

The projects throughout the book were created using my Nutcracker Tradition fabric collection with Riley Blake Designs, which makes seeing all of these pieces together especially meaningful to me.

Join Us for the Nutcracker Book Blog Tour

To celebrate the book, I invited a wonderful group of makers to choose a project from its pages and make it their own.

Beginning October 7, 2026, we will be visiting a new maker each Wednesday. Each participant will share their project, their creative process, and their own interpretation of The Nutcracker.

I love that each maker will bring their own ideas and creativity to the projects. That is part of the joy of sewing a story. Fabric choices, little details, and personal touches can make a project feel completely your own.

Here is our tour schedule:

Sew Your Own Nutcracker Story

One of my hopes when creating this book was that these projects would become a starting point for your own traditions. You might make a quilt to bring out every Christmas, sew a doll for a child you love, create stockings for your family, or choose one Nutcracker project to make together each year.

There is no single way to sew the story. Choose the project that speaks to you, choose fabrics you love, and make it your own.

I am so grateful to every maker joining me for this tour, and I cannot wait to share their creations with you over the coming weeks.

And most of all, I cannot wait to see the stories you create from the pages of The Nutcracker.

Yours in storytelling sewing,
Jennifer & Team
