Up on the Rooftop Mystery Quilt Along β Week 2
Let’s Sew the Holly & Happiness Block
This week we’re adding a little greenery to our mystery quilt with the Holly & Happiness Block. This festive row features bold holly leaves and bright berries, arranged in a playful pattern that runs the width of the quilt.
You’ll be making flying geese units, piecing strip sets, and building leaf sections that form a holly bouquet. With its mix of red and green prints, this row brings a classic holiday feel to the design.
A Few Helpful Hints
- Stitch carefully through the flying geese. Take your time with the diagonal seams and trim after sewing to keep everything clean and symmetrical.
- Subcut precisely. When you slice your strip sets into smaller units, a sharp blade and a steady hand will help keep your pieces uniform.
- Press and check as you go. It’s a good idea to measure each unit before combining them to ensure the final row lays flat and even.
When finished, your Holly & Happiness Block should measure 9 1/2” x 40 1/2” (unfinished).
